Independence Day

Greetings from the Happy Hotel in the Khao San Road area of Bangkok. I'm on a three-day holiday here with some former NATR peeps who are passing through en route to other worldly destinations. With any luck this high-speed Internet will inspire a minty fresh new adventure for you in a couple days. In the meantime, satiate your thirst for Kuraburi happenings with the latest update from NATR--they're always a good read.

Erik, you continue to be a delight and an inspiration, and I had to share with Dave your Tortoise memories - they echoed deep inside me, in one of the best parts.
We're outta here, leaving early October for 3 months in Australia! Can we visit on our way through, either early Oct or around New Year?
Love you!
Sue.

I continue to be amazed that anyone still checks this blog.

Sharon, enjoy your holiday, and tell me more about it when you get a chance.

Sue--what a surprise to hear from you! I'm actually planning to head Stateside for a while (one day I'll update the freaking blog with this news), starting sometime in August, for a few months of financial recharging. But I expect to be back here in November. I'll keep you posted--new Year's in Bangkok would be a blast!

hey erik,

i'm back to read more of your adventures! :) just wanted to drop a comment to let you know i am still here. wow, that is some news about ccm - although i am baffled as to why the place has been open as long as it has. hope you enjoyed your holiday - we just returned from cape cod a few weeks ago - weather was so-so but we had a nice time. bonaduce loved the beach! :) i will continue to read to see if you will indeed be returning to the states sometime in september. i would love to see you again if you are back around the holidays...although i did read that you are planning to be overseas again by november. at any rate, sorry for the novella...but i hope we can get together at some point - miss you and our crazy times. talk soon!

xoxo, nicole

bit dissapointed....no new update :-(.

If you want people to keep on checking your blog, you have to come up with some of those great stories ;-)

Anyway, went to Vienna for a conference and after to Slovenia and Hungary. Was great. Bit warm, though. Met these great guys from Germany/Russia. Had to much vodka....I've never had such a huge hangover ever before.

And met my boss-to-be (hopefully) at the conference. So if I'll be lucky with finishing up, i'll be living in Brazil in two years. Doesn't that sound great? Much better than the states.

Btw: i'll also be in the states end of august till end of october; spending at least a week in SF. Would be lovely to see u again.

I'm hoping to see a new post of you soonish,
keep up the good work!

Erik,

You drove on a couple of GT trips I was on and last summer you spoke about an upcoming Thailand adventure...

I'm feeling some corporate angst at the moment (even though I work in a fairly uncorporate environment)... and was reminded of your decision to disengage from that world.

I decided to see if I could find out how it's panned out for you and - lo and behold - an entire Thailand blog. Gosh. I've read with interest and slight envy about your experiences and it makes for an engaging and often moving journal.

While driving one time, you mentioned a desire to write the "Great American Novel"...better I think to have journeyed in the opposite direction to Kerouac...and to have written of a quest of a slightly different nature!

I really hope it's all going well for you.

Best wishes,

Jana
